Day 18 - Dry Risers…..

I popped into Newcastle recently to have a scout round for some fire suppression infrastructure.

I had in mind things like pipes and valves, essentially the UK equivalent of the US Fire Hydrant.

However it turns out that in the UK we appear to love hiding things away behind doors and underground!

What we do have are a lot off dry risers - these are empty pipework systems designed to carry water to all floors of a building. It requires the water to be attached to the riser and the vales turned on.

So todays images are some of the dry risers that we have around Newcastle upon tyne.

Because in the event of an emergency, they get the water where its needed
