Day 22 - Misty mornings
You can tell that I’m starting to struggle with a daily blog - after all I only have so much that I can talk about at any one time!
That being said, yesterday morning I was greeted with a heavy morning mist. Dense moisture laden air, reducing visibility and making distant objects hazy and diaphanous in nature.
“Perfect!” I thought, grabbed the tripod and set off into the cool 06:00 morning down into my local woods.
I have such respect for photographers that manage to capture the foggy and misty woodlands. The mist was not quite heavy enough for me to capture what I wanted but I had a good stab at it:
The foreground is messy and it’s not print worthy - but it does act as a great lesson image and leaves me with a list of subtle changes to try next time. With a thicker fog this would look very eerie, so will be back later in the year when we will no doubt get some decent fog.
After unsuccessful woodland images I tried a couple of grasslands, using a fence as a focal point
The black and white works well I think, especially with the dual leading lines of the fences. Thats why this is the image of the day for the gallery!
As I wandered the warm summer sun began to make itself felt, with the sky brightening and the mist beginning to lift. I managed a shot of this water pipe roll and pump and then by the time I had walked for another mile or so the main body of the mist was gone, so I finished with the image of the horse box in an open field. A rather successful mornings walk thanks to the mist!
